Feldenkrais® for Eye Strain and Other Challenges of Teleconferencing
Seems weird to offer a class over Zoom about how we’re spending too much time on Zoom, doesn’t it?
The good news is that you won’t have to look at the screen much between when you sign in and when you sign off of this class. The directions are verbal, and all you have to do is listen and follow along. The gentle, ingenious patterns of Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® lessons will help you discover how to un-furrow your brow, soften your gaze, un-hold your breath, release your shoulders, and get comfortable in your seat.
Most of the exercises and movement explorations will be on the floor, though we will also do some at our desks, and even a bit looking at the screen — in order to learn how to calm our eyes and the rest of our nervous systems so we can be more comfortable when at the computer, and recover more easily when we step away.
Logistics
You can take the class at the scheduled time, or asynchronously, or a combination of the two. Recordings will be uploaded by the end of the day on Thursday, and questions submitted by the following Tuesday will be addressed in the next class.
This class will involve skill-building, so attending the series is recommended, but you can still drop-in if that’s what works for you.
Cost: sliding scale $75-$120 for 8 weeks. Drop-in $10-$15.
Students studying asynchronously may schedule up to two half-hour one-on-one lessons for $25 each to make sure your specific concerns are addressed.
